Young?
Thanks for that.
I don't remember the old official forum tbh, but from what I hear, it got unpleasant at times.
Hope that doesn't happen here though.
There are quite a few members from the old forum here btw.
Yeah, there are polls & maybe no-one wins. Although I guess it gets people pulling out "that song" to see what the other is talking about. I think that's a good thing. So perhaps there are winners in a sense.
30 years? OMG!
That would mean you would have some interesting memories & moments that you could talk to us about (if you wanted to of course).
Happy posting curenemisis.

CCC is NOT comparable to the official or any other forum. We have a special Cure spirit and atmosphere. Thanks for taking care, but this forum will not be closed just like the official forum. Unless one single person who is responsible for CCC changes his mind .
I started CCC to have a respectful, friendly and familiar place where all kinds of fans of The Cure can meet up in peace. Where no-one needs to be afraid of telling her/his opinion. Where no-one says "I listen to The Cure since a longer time than you" or "I have been at more shows than you" or "I am simply older than you"! All tastes, perspectives and experiences are valuable and welcome.
If members want polls, this is what the poll tool is there for. This is not about winning or loosing. This is about the fun and the passion for a band.
I said it so many times to so many members: you don't like a thread or a certain topic? Leave it aside and leave it to the ones who like it, just don't mess it up for those. Go on and find the ones you like better, there will be plenty for sure .
This goes out to everybody, by the way.
Cheers, have lots of fun and happy posting,
ceho

BEFORE THIS GOES ANY FURTHER
curenemesis has not been banned.
A banned member would not be able to log in, let alone post anything.
You already asked ceho about this & he confirmed that you have not been banned.
@ curenemesis
Please check your PM in box.
We have tried to contact you in the past, but without much luck.

Back to topic. Not only the ultimate "battle", but rather the neverending story....
I found this today as a comment on one of our videos from the CCC YouTube channel:
Quote:

Guys, this drummer nonsense on every video has to stop. The Cure is brilliant, but their drum beats are just repeating 8 bar patterns over and over for the entire songs that are usually originally constructed on drum machines. Any competent drummer can play any Cure song. This is the dumbest argument to talk about in every video. Are you just repeating it because it's the thing to do or do you actually know anything about drumming? Talk about something else more positive and relevant.
|
I really agree. Despite the fact that obviously almost each of our videos gets used to comment on the drummer , I wanted to to throw this comment in for disussion.
Could be a bit controversial to some of you, but personally I don't prefer Boris or Jason. From my view as an amateur Jason is technically clearly the better drummer. I said it before and I stick to that: Boris sounded like an emotionless drum machine. But still, without him the best and most successful period of The Cure wouldn't have been possible. No doubt, at his time he was THE drummer of The Cure and will always remain.
Same for Jason. There must be a reason that he is by far the drummer of The Cure with the longest membership. It's funny to me that still many fans regard him as the "new" member. I like his drumming, and I think he simply is the drummer of The Cure since 15 years, no more and no less.
I know most of you will throw up, but you know that I listen a lot to all kinds of dark metal stuff. And my friends, honestly, compared to most metal drummers either Jason and Boris are just better hobby drummers!!
Your turn. Shred me .
Cheers,
ceho

i must disagree that boris sounds like a drum machine!
i prefer boris but to be honest i don't care all that much. i know nothing about drumming, and cure songs rely a lot more on vocals, bass lines, etc. - i rarely notice the drums unless i'm specifically listening for it.
i trust robert's judgement, i suppose

Jason is the one that sounds like a drum machine. Because he MUST... kind of. He is tied to a metronome/drum loop that prevents him from making improvisation or speed changes. It has to be the same night after night...
Boris used to increase a couple of BPM (beats per minute) in certain parts of the songs.

I really love those rim shots that Boris dropped all over Disintegration, but I have nothing against either drummer. I loved the softer sound of Boris' work, but that's something that could be attributed more to the production efforts of the time.
The Cure seem to have a more raw and edgy sound these days, even when they try to be soft and ethereal, and I think Jason's style fits this really well.
I loved seeing Boris sit in for some of the acoustic best of sessions!
They're both ace drummers and I believe either one of them are right for The Cure; however, when I think of my favorite album, Disintegration, would Jason have played it as well as Boris? I have doubts.
Regardless, I love them both.
