Another Ross Robinson thread :)

I was reading today that 'Surfing the Void' the new album of Klaxons released this week is produced by Ross Robinson. Ok, intersting, I'm curious about it. The thing is, everytime I hear something in the media about Ross comes immediately the description that he is a well known producer that worked in the past with THE CURE and only after our band comes the others, Slipknot, Korn etc etc.... is it the work with The Cure on the selftitled Album so important that he is firstly recognised by it?

I would say no.

Surely he's worked on better albums then The Cure's self-titled. I would hope!

I think not, because he didn't a good job on the self-titled album by The Cure in my eyes

Maybe he did/does by other bands

Maybe working with The Cure gave him some credibility in the eyes of nu metal fans. But if those people appreciate his work on the self-title album, then it's a proof they have very bad taste.

If the band had produced the self-titled album by themselves, i'm sure it would be better than the result we have now

Please don't get me wrong i love it incl. the b-sides of the singles (the words are great and the vocals also, even if Robert screams on most of the songs, if i remember it right), but i was and still i am not delighted that Ross Robinson worked as a producer for this album

I'd say no as well. I think it's simply the fact The Cure's the most well known of the bands Robinson's worked with.

I think he did an okay job on The Cure.

Better than the production on 4:13 for sure. But then, the speaker on my telephone sounds better than that.

& if he can make Korn sound just half good, he has to be in possession of a good ear or two.
