"Mess your hair for Robert"

Hi everyone,

this place is dedicated one of biggest man on this planet (maybe in space ;) fantastic musician too, guitar player, excellent songwriter and especially promoter of best band I ever heard called – The Cure. His name is Robert Smith.

Robert was born 21. april 1959 in Blackpool, North England and when he was child they remove in Crawley (near of London). Robert attended to Notre Dame Middle School and St. Wilfrid's Comprehensive School in Crawley. On thirteen birthday he got his first electric guitar and here start dream which we dreaming together with Robert. He composed group with name The Crawley Goat Band where he plays with sister Janet and brother Richard. Then band with name The Group, Malice and finally Easy Cure where played Robert on guitar and vocals, Lol Tolhurst on drums and Mike Dempsey on bass guitar. Soon after they changed their name on The Cure and legend is on the world. With The Cure he recorded 13 great studio albums yet.

Robert acted in other bands too. In 1979-1984 he was member of Siouxsie And The Banshees where he played on guitar and in 1984 Robert compose with bass player of Banshees Steve Severin band called The Glove and they made (first and only) „strange“ album Blue Sunshine.

Now he lives in South England with wife Mary. They married in 13. august 1988. I think that they are very nice couple. Robert loves Mary with whole heart and his big love to her is to feel in many their songs. Especially songs Lovesong and Just Like Heaven are about her.

Robert is real heart of The Cure, but other members had and have important place in the group too. I told that Robert is excellent songwriter. I think that is true, because when I listen their songs and those wonderful lyrics I feel wonderful feeling in my heart. About Robert is know that he loves books and many his lyrics refers on pieces of authors like A.E.Poe, CH.Baudelaire, A.Camus, F.Kafka etc.

And big part of their music doing instruments. Robert play on guitar, even he is multi-instrumentalist. He know to play on bass, drums, keyboards, coral sitar, violin... but especially he plays on his (I think brilliant guitar) Schecter Ultracure. Beside he used Fender Bass VI – guitar which make fantastic „cure sound“, Gretsch Silver Falcon, Gretsh Red Tennessee Rose, Fender Jazzmaster, Fender Stratocaster
Schecter Ultra, Mosrite Ventures, National Pro-88, Gibson Firebird, Gibson ES 335, Gibson SG Custom, Schecter RS-1000 and others.
Between Robert music influences belong Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, Alex Harvey Sensational Band and many others.

I hope that we will live many cure years, albums and fantastic concerts yet... I wish Robert and other cure and ex-cure members all the best ;)
