GAH... I think Disintegration, at the moment. It's such a gorgeous album. Pornography was born out of all this pain and depression and darkness, and it shows. Not that Disintegration doesn't have it's fair share of darkness, but it's more obvious in Pornography. Both gorgeous albums, but Pornography is for a bad or quiet day... While Disintegration is amazing for whenever, wherever. I love both though x]

I would have to select Disintegration just because I have quite an emotional connection to it. I had many hard things going on in my life when this album came out. This album saved me in so many ways I can't even express.

Pornography is such a heavy album. I have to be in a certain mood to listen to it...usually a bad one.

These are two very different albums i think. Pornography represent for me i would say depression, maybe anger and also violent. And Disintegration sadness, morbidity and melancholic. Okay, both have the same issue, getting old,
but expressed in two different ways. I love both albums and could listen to them for a long time, but i can't say which is my favourite.
What my impression is, when i've listened to Pornography i'm a tiny bit aggressive, not that i would beat someone up, would never ever to that, but also angry. This doesn't last long, but it happens
Does anyone of you have the same impression? This would be interesting.
Thanks for your answer in advance

Very well said silversand, I completely agree with you. To me both albums deal with getting older but express it in different ways (that's what I meant by 'point in life' ). Pornography contains the anger and frustration and doubt you feel when you're in your early twenties (well, I did anyway), while Disintegration is more reflective and questioning. To me Disintegration also expresses the doubt you feel when you're at a 'crossroads' in your life..and Bloodflowers continues the journey, but that's another topic...

I also agree with you about Pornography making you feel more aggressive - it makes me feel the same way. I often listen to it when I'm feeling frustrated or angry...it's a release for me

I love both albums. They are both great as for The Cure so for the whole music story. By I like Pornography most - that's INGENIOUS album, I think. It's from my favourite The Cure period. Besides, this is the one and only album for me from which I listen to all the tracks (ALL!).

yes, i agree. listening to pornography i am usually upset, stressed, angry. not like horribly so, but it's not usually the album you choose to put on on a happy day. as said before, disintegration, on the other hand, works on any sort of day somehow.

This wasn't much of a contest for me.

Disintegration was the first record I listened to from them and I connect with it in a lot of ways (lyrics, dramatic music, nostalgia). Pornography is great but I don't have the same connection with it except for a few songs: "Siamese Twins" and "Cold".

Both albums are EPIC... sheer genius in their lyrics and music... SO VERY powerful...

I prefer Disintegration... But Pornography is also equally as great... although it's more one of my 'punching bag' albums that I listen to if I'm feeling stressed, angry, upset, etc... and it's a good escape/reflection...

With Disintegration... I can reflect, escape and smile all at the same time...
