Thought I'd post this, as more & more rar archives are shared these days.
From time to time, during uploading & downloading, rar archives can get corrupted.
Rather than re-upload the entire set of archives, it's possible to repair them with PAR & PAR2 files.
If I understand correctly, the PAR creating program will analyse the "damaged" archive(s) & create a PAR recovery file that when opened, magically fixes the original files.
The PAR files are a fraction of the size of the RAR archives & so much quicker to upload, send or whatever.
I've just got hold of Quick Par (free from
http://www.quickpar.org.uk/ )
& here is a brief explanation on how this works.

So, I am going to experiment with this & see how it goes, but if anyone else has used this method for repairing archives, do let us know how you got on.
