Why don't you just move the dashboard ?

Printscreen on MAC (just in case): Shift+Apple+4, then you will see a little aim that you just pull over the area you want to printscreen. Release and the image will be saved to your desktop.

I use cmd+shift+3 for the whole screen
Screen shot 2011-03-30 at 10.42.00 PM.jpg, but if you want to select, cmd+shift+4 will give you a drag box like ceho described.

Thanks guys, but I figured out how to move the dashboard to left of the screen, although I have a feeling It will take some getting used to

There also happens to be a way to make the dashboard only appear when you scroll over where it would be this seems to work for me
